Travel Advisory for The Bahamas

Good afternoon,

Your safety and well-being are our top priority. Some of you may have seen that on January 26, 2024, the U.S. Department of State issued a Travel Advisory for The Bahamas.

This Level 2 Advisory urges “increased vigilance” in the “Over the Hill” area of Nassau. This is an area of Nassau that US travelers do not often frequent. If you do end up finding yourself in the “Over the Hill” area the advisory suggests visitors “exercise increased caution” due to a recent spike in crime. The State Department indicates most of the crime has taken place in New Providence (Nassau) and Grand Bahama (Freeport) islands. The Atlantis property is located across a bridge from Nassau, on Paradise Island.

NECA is closely monitoring the situation and is in communication with the Atlantis Paradise Island resort staff and security. Ensuring the well-being of our members, presenters and staff is our top priority.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email meetings@necanet.org.

We are looking forward to seeing you all in The Bahamas!
