Current District 6 Vice President Mark Walter was elected President of NECA by the Board of Governors on September 12, 2025. As a result of this election, Walter will be unable to complete the remainder of his unexpired term as District 6 Vice President, which was set to run from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.
In accordance with NECA Bylaws Section 10.7(b), the District 6 Governors have elected Mitch Murphy to serve the balance of that unexpired term. Murphy’s appointment will take effect January 1, 2026, and continue through December 31, 2026.
Mitch Murphy is the President of Sierra Electric, Inc., based in Kennewick, Washington, and currently serves as Governor of the Inland Empire Chapter. With extensive experience in the electrical construction industry and strong involvement in NECA leadership, Murphy brings a deep commitment to advancing the Association’s mission across District 6 and beyond.
During the summer of 2026, District 6 will begin the process of nominating a candidate for District 6 Vice President to serve a full two-year term beginning January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2028. This nomination will be presented for approval by the Board of Governors at NECA’s annual Convention.
NECA congratulates both Mark Walter on his election as President and Mitch Murphy on his selection to serve as District 6 Vice President. The Association looks forward to their continued leadership and contributions to the success of NECA members nationwide.
