1. ADMININISTRATION MAKES TARGETED INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AHEAD OF HURRICANE SEASON
This week, President Biden announced his plan to double FEMA’s current Pre-Disaster Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Program budget to $1 billion. In preparation for hurricane season and to combat climate change, the Administration would like to take a more proactive approach. Much of this budget will go to research and infrastructure investment to reinforce the communities most likely to be impacted by natural disasters. To read more, view the White House fact sheet here.
NECA’s Look Ahead: NECA strongly supports this increase in federal disaster relief funding. Our contractors are typically the first on the scene after large natural disasters and we will continue to advocate for NECA members who are on the front line of this relief.
