Proposed $2.5B Power Line Seen as Link for Three Large Grids
Backers of the $2.5-billion North Plains Connector say they aim to begin permit approval this year for a 385-mile, high-voltage direct-current transmission line that could be first in the U.S. to link three large regional power grids—Western Interconnection, Midcontinent Independent System Operator and Southwest Power Pool—allowing shared energy from multiple sources and boosted system reliability. The Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health will convene on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 9 am – 4 pm ET, in Washington, DC. Virtual attendance information will also be posted on the ACCSH webpage prior to the meeting. In conjunction with the ACCSH meeting, ACCSH Workgroups will meet on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Comments and requests to speak at ACCSH must be submitted at regulations.gov, the Federal eRulemaking Portal, identified with docket number OSHA-2023-0002, by Thursday, February 23, 2023.
