Revolutionizing Testing One Classification at a Time
Examinations within the NASCLA Accredited Electrical Examination Program are now administered by six state agencies across the country and accepted by an additional three! The newest state agency to opt in is the Florida Electrical Contractors' Licensing Boardby accepting the Residential Electrical Contractor classification for Endorsement.
As of June 1, 2020, one state has completed its 2020 NEC update process. Thirty-four states have completed the 2017 NEC update process. Eight other states are in the process of revising the statute or administrative rule through which the NEC is updated to reference the 2017 edition. Twenty-one states that are currently using the 2017 NEC have commenced the process of revising the statute or administrative rule through which the NEC is updated to reference the 2020 edition. Seven states are using the 2014, 2011 or 2008 edition of the NEC and are not in the process of updating the edition currently in use.
The NEMA Low Voltage Surge Protective Devices Section provide technical guidance and easy-to-use checklists for evaluating devices. It also presents test results of devices in a real-world surge environment that shows all electrical products, sensors and systems containing electronic components are at risk of suffering damage from electrical surges.
2023 Edition of National Electrical Code Open for Input
Adopted in all 50 states, NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC) is the benchmark for safe electrical design, installation and inspection to protect people and property from electrical hazards. Make your voice heard by joining the development process of the next edition of this important standard.
The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) has developed a collection of ANSI-approved electrical installation workmanship standards and recommended practices. While the NEC has a general requirement that electrical conductors and equipment be installed in a workmanlike manner, the NEC doesn’t specify how to accomplish that. That is the very purpose of the National Electrical Installation Standards project.
NECA creates and revises several NEIS (ANSI-approved standards) annually. We are looking for participants across all interest group categories. If you would like to be involved, please contact Aga Golriz at 301-215-4549 or by email at aga.golriz@necanet.org.
